First 10k is looming

First official 10k is looming. Not looking forward to it, now – a bit nervous. Not looking forward to the 8am Saturday morning start either. Going out for a few beers as David’s leaving-do from work. Must not have too many beers! I have uploaded the route.

Why on hell am I doing this???

I have lived on the London Marathon Route for 10 years, and every year I see everyone plod past and think that as a Londoner I need to do this at least once. The support people seem to receive all through the course seems amazing and I want to experience it.

When I first came to London, Andrew Silver & I said we would enter the ballot every year until we got a place. Well he got a place in 2005 and successfully completed the marathon ... years on (after not submitting my ballot form for a number of years) - it is finally my turn.

In 2008, I ran the Great North Run. Since then I have let myself go a bit and increased my weight by more than 15%. The years are starting to show I am now 33. My theory is that if I don't do it now there is a chance I will never do it.

I am running the marathon for an awesome local charity, Time and Talents who do some excellent work for disadvantaged communities.
